Alliant International University On My Way... event 1/20 allows qualified students to enroll in a day/start school in a week
University offers a solution to college students for completing their BA degree despite state budget crunch with a $1,000 credit when enrolled
SAN DIEGO, CA, January 20, 2010 /University PR News/ -- In response to California's higher education multi-million dollar budget cut in state funds, Alliant International University is hosting a special "On My Way ...To Complete My Bachelor's Degree at Alliant International University" open house for prospective students on Wednesday, January 20, from 2 - 6 pm, that will allow qualified students to enroll in a day and get back "on their way."
At the On My Way... event, students will meet with Alliant counselors to apply, be admitted and select their courses, all on the same day. Upon successful enrollment, all students will receive a one-time $1,000 transfer credit towards tuition. Classes at Alliant start as early as Monday, January 25th. Interested participants must register at http://onmyway.alliant.edu and download/complete the application form.
"The purpose of this event is very much in line with our mission as an opportunity school. We strive to create access and opportunity for education across all populations, including the underserved," explains Russ Newman, Alliant provost and vice president for academic affairs. "The On My Way... campaign is intended to provide access to a population that has suddenly been denied the opportunity to attend college due to the state's budget crisis. Our one day enrollment event gives them the chance to get back on track to complete their education."
The afternoon will include mingling with current Alliant students and faculty, while enjoying music and prizes provided by radio station 91X .
Prospective students must bring ALL transcripts (official or unofficial will be accepted) for immediate enrollment and must be in good academic standing with a minimum of 45 units to transfer into a bachelor's program.
Alliant is also offering 40 Yellow Ribbon scholarships for eligible service members and their dependants that will fund practically all tuition and housing expenses. To apply, service members must bring their Certificate of Eligibility and Yellow Ribbon Application form from the federal government's Post-9/11 GI Bill that can be found at http://www.gibill.va.gov/GI_Bill_Info/CH33/Yellow_ribbon.htm
Alliant undergraduate degree programs include: Business, Communications: Marketing & Public Relations, International Relations, Liberal Studies, Liberal Studies for Education, Psychology and Forensic Studies [available Fall 2010]. All degrees are fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Alliant also offers Master's and Doctoral degrees.
The On My Way... event is being held at the Alliant International University San Diego campus in the Walter Library, 10455 Pomerado Road, San Diego CA 92131. Parking is free. For more information, visit onmyway.alliant.edu.
